Plan International wanted to put climate policy knowledge directly into the hands of young people – giving them the tools to understand, engage with, and influence the decisions shaping their futures. Working with Unbounded Associates, I led the creative direction and design of the Youth Leadership in Climate Policy Workbook and Facilitator’s Guide, a practical resource for young people aged 14+ that can be used independently or delivered in group settings.
The challenge was handling a significant volume of complex content – spanning climate justice, rights-based thinking and practical policy tools – and making it feel engaging rather than overwhelming. I collaborated with illustrator Jane Bowyer to create an illustration system that brought warmth and approachability to the material, while the design gave it the structure and clarity it needed to work across chapters and formats, including a print-friendly greyscale version so it’s usable in settings with different access to printing and resources.
